Letters, diaries and photographs from World War II

Thursday 15th February 1945

Went down to the Sergeants Mess in the evening as it’s the Quartermaster’s birthday. I have a pipe of St.Bruno. I must say I like this tobacco but it starts my gums off again and I’ll lay off till they are better. The BEME takes my Jeep away. They won’t get a better.

Note: BEME = possibly Brigadier Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
