Letters, diaries and photographs from World War II

Sunday 31st December 1944

Got up late and did nothing all day.

In the evening we went to the movies and later stayed on at the club to the new Year’s party. I had one dance with Nathalie. We got home at 2.30

Nathalie Kilburn, wife of local tea plantation owner Jack Kilburn.

Nathalie and Jack became close friends of John’s but this visit was to be the last time he ever saw them.
